Security & privacy
Security isn't a feature. It's the foundation of Safe Button.
When people use Safe Button for their safety, they must be able to trust that both the service and the information are handled responsibly.
Your information
Your information is protected
Safe Button handles security-related information with a high level of security. This can include GPS position, alarm events, audio recordings, recipient information, and licence activation information.
We do not collect more information than is needed for the service to function. Every piece of data has a clear purpose: enabling the right people to act quickly when an alarm is triggered.
Data & privacy
Built for European businesses and organisations
Safe Button is developed with GDPR and European data protection principles as a starting point. We process only the personal data necessary to deliver the safety alarm and administer licences.
What data is processed, why it is processed, and how long it is retained is described in our Privacy Policy (the Swedish version is binding). It also includes information about who has access to the information and what rights users have.
Do you have questions about how we handle data? Contact us and we'll help.
Position data
Position is a safety function
When an alarm is triggered, Safe Button can retrieve the employee's position so the right people can act. The position is sent by SMS to the recipients chosen in advance.
For municipalities and other employers, it's important to understand when position can be used and who gets access to it. The position is part of the alarm event – it is not used for ongoing monitoring.
Audio recording
Audio recording is a safety function – not surveillance
Safe Button can start an audio recording in connection with an alarm being triggered. The recording is intended to help understand what happened and to make it easier to assess a situation.
The information must be handled responsibly and in accordance with the policy that applies in the organisation. Read more about how audio recordings and other data are processed in the Privacy Policy.
For employers
Your responsibility starts with being prepared
Safe Button is a tool for strengthening safety during lone work and other exposed work tasks. It complements – but does not replace – routines, risk assessments and the employer's responsibility.
Examples of situations where Safe Button is used:
- Home care and home visits
- Social services and official duties
- Property, inspection and field work
- Technicians, transport and care work
In the product
Security in the product itself
Secure app architecture
The app and backend are built to minimise exposure of sensitive information and to keep a clear separation between customer data, licences and payment information.
Secure communication
Traffic between the app, backend and third-party services is encrypted using modern standards.
Access control
Sales staff, administrators and customer data have separate permissions. Login happens via verified identities with role-based access.
Licence and activation
Each licence is activated with a unique code and linked to a specific device. Activation is locked to paid, active licences.
Protection against unauthorised access
Licences, orders and activations are protected by row-level access control in the backend. Only authorised roles can read or change data.
Relevant logging
Events relating to activation, payment status and licence changes are logged so the organisation can follow up and review them.
When something happens, you should be able to trust that Safe Button does what it was built to do.
